- Basic 9-1-1 calls are first answered by a third-party operator. You must be ready to provide your location information to the operator who will then route the emergency call to the appropriate emergency response centre based on the information you provided.
The location information for the Desktop app and the Mobile app is managed through the Bell Total Connect portal. If you cannot speak, the location information you provided in the portal will be transmitted to the operator who will then route the emergency call based on the address in the portal. This is why it is crucial that you keep your location information up-to-date in this portal. Note that there can only be one active address in the portal at a given time.
Basic 9-1-1 service is provided when (1) Bell Total Connect Service is provisioned over Bell’s Business Internet Service access for emergency calls made from outside the Service Address, (2) when Bell Total Connect Service is provisioned over an IP/MPLS access for emergency calls made using any other means than the phone device at the assigned work stations and, (3) when Bell Total Connect Mobile app is used on a mobile device that is not connected to a mobile network.
