- If your local network uses a web proxy server to proxy Internet traffic, please note that web proxy servers cannot handle SIP, RTP, or XMPP traffic. Please configure your network firewall to permit this traffic to connect directly to your Internet gateway, following the rules listed on the firewall support page.
A web proxy server can support other features of the desktop app, such as service configuration, directory, and desktop sharing. The desktop app supports the web proxies found in your operating systemʼs Local area network settings menu, as follows :- No proxy — This option is for networks with no proxy for http/https (e.g., home networks, public networks or company networks with minimal security). Workstations on such networks have access to a public DNS and their http/https traffic flows directly to the Internet.
- Use system proxies — When this option is selected, the desktop app detects any static proxy configured in the system and uses it for http/https traffic.
- Use Bell Total Connect proxy settings — While the desktop app does not support automatic configuration scripts, you can add your preferred proxy server address and port for http/https manually.
